R.G. Menzies Scholarship to Harvard

Established in 1967 by the Harvard Club of Australia, the scholarship honours a great Australian Statesman and furthers Australian/ American relations.

Awarded in partnership with The Harvard Club of Australia and The Australian National University, the scholarship program is administered by the ANU for postgraduate study at Harvard University in the United States.

The RG Menzies Scholarship to Harvard is awarded annually to at least two talented Australians who have gained admission to a Harvard graduate school. The ideal candidates for the Scholarship are Australians whose primary objective, after completing their studies at Harvard, is to make a significant contribution to Australia's development.

Receiving an R.G. Menzies Scholarship places the scholar in elite company. Previous winners have achieved outstanding progress and recognition in their chosen fields, making major contributions to Australia. Accordingly, all scholars are actively encouraged to support and assist in furthering the objectives of the R.G. Menzies Scholarships throughout their careers.

The Frank Knox Memorial Fellowships were established at Harvard University in 1945 by a gift from Annie Reid Knox, wife of the late Frank Knox, who served as U.S. Secretary of the Navy in the 1940s. Frank Knox believed that strong ties between the United States and the British Commonwealth were essential to international peace. The Knox Memorial Fellowship program promotes this legacy through scholarly exchange, in part by providing fellowships to students from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom who wish to conduct graduate study at Harvard University. Fellows are selected on the basis of academic excellence, strength of character and potential for leadership in their field.

The Ramsay Postgraduate Scholarships were established through the generosity of the founder of the Ramsay Centre, Mr Paul Ramsay.
Scholarships are open annually to Australian citizens to pursue postgraduate study abroad. The aim of the scholarships is to enable coursework and/or research to be undertaken at the world's best universities and colleges for up to two years (and in select cases up to three years). Levels of support for tuition and living costs are fully competitive with such prestigious awards as the General Sir John Monash, Commonwealth, Rhodes and Fulbright Scholarships.
