Scholarship Overview

 

The NextGen Scholarship is offered by P.E.R.K. Consulting with an aim to support international students and non-citizens who come to the US for pursuing higher education. P.E.R.K. Consulting is an advisory firm that focuses on business development and capacity building for non-profit and small businesses. The fact, that deserving international students lose out on opportunities because of lack of resources, lies at the genesis of the NextGen Scholarship. The NextGen Scholarship provides one annual award to high school seniors who have been accepted in college, and current undergraduates who are attending a 2 or 4 year college program. In addition, the NextGen Scholarship is a local (Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia) scholarship program. Students must note that the applications are judged on merit and financial need.

The NextGen Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Students must note the following eligibility criteria for the NextGen Scholarship:

  • All the applications must be completely filled
  • Applicant must be an international student or a non-citizen
  • Scholarship amount: $1,000
  • GPA Required: minimum 3.0
  • Academic eligibility: College-accepted high school seniors and current undergraduate students attending a 2 or 4 year college
  • Location: Applicant must reside in Washington DC, Maryland or Virginia OR must be accepted into a college or university that is in the Washington DC, Maryland, or Virginia tri-state area

  • Applicable for all students pursuing bachelor's degree in any field

 

Scholarship amount details

Max scholarship per student: USD 1,000 => Rs 83,260

Conversion rate used: 1 USD = Rs. 82.90 (last updated 6th March 2024)

Eligibility

  • Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be an international student or non-citizen enrolled in a US school
  • Applicants must currently reside in Washington DC, Maryland, or Virginia OR must be accepted into a college or university that is in the Washington DC, Maryland, or Virginia tri-state area
  • The scholarship is provided to a qualified and outstanding high school senior or a current college student at a two-year or four-year college

Essays Required

 

  • LOR: Two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a professor, teacher, principal, or high school guidance counselor. The applicant may also provide a letter of recommendation from an employer, clergy member, coach, or mentor
  • Essay: Two essays are required. Each essay needs to be approximately 500 words. Applicants must choose two of the four essay topics to write about
  • An official transcript is required
  • Proof acceptance or enrollment at a college or university
