Description
The Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES), Germany’s oldest political foundation linked to the Social Democratic Party, empowers talented students who share a commitment to democracy, social justice, and civic engagement. The scholarship offers financial support across Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD levels to students currently enrolled at German universities.
Who’s Eligible?
Applicants must be studying at a state-recognized public university or university of applied sciences in Germany.
FES especially encourages applications from first-generation students, those from STEM fields, women, immigrant backgrounds, and students with strong socio-political engagement.
A solid command of German is required—applications are submitted in German.
Benefits
Monthly stipend: approximately €934 for Bachelor’s/Master’s students and €1,200 for PhD candidates
Family allowance: around €276/month if applicable
Health insurance coverage included alongside financial support
What’s Not Covered
FES does not support short-term study visits, project-based programs, part-time training, language courses, post-doctoral research, certain medical or psychotherapy degrees, or second degrees.
