Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) Scholarship – Germany

The Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES), Germany’s oldest political foundation linked to the Social Democratic Party, empowers talented students who share a commitment to democracy, social justice, and civic engagement. The scholarship offers financial support across Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD levels to students currently enrolled at German universities.

Who’s Eligible?

• Applicants must be studying at a state-recognized public university or university of applied sciences in Germany.

• FES especially encourages applications from first-generation students, those from STEM fields, women, immigrant backgrounds, and students with strong socio-political engagement.

• A solid command of German is required—applications are submitted in German.

Benefits

• Monthly stipend: approximately €934 for Bachelor’s/Master’s students and €1,200 for PhD candidates

• Family allowance: around €276/month if applicable

• Health insurance coverage included alongside financial support

What’s Not Covered

FES does not support short-term study visits, project-based programs, part-time training, language courses, post-doctoral research, certain medical or psychotherapy degrees, or second degrees.
