Solo with the Flying Musicians Association
Flying Musicians team with music directors and flight instructors to offer a scholarship to Learn to Fly.
Are you a high school music student? Do you want to learn to fly? Have your music director/teacher nominate you for the FMA Solo program. In cooperation with FMA’s corporate members and sponsors nationwide, this program will assist juniors and seniors in high school who have been nominated by their music director/teacher.
“We have found that, perhaps more than any other teachers, band directors get to know their students’ dreams. With these scholarships, they can help select students achieve them.”
FMA Solo Program
Offers:
- Flight Training through solo (~15hrs)
- Assistance in obtaining flight training materials
- Assistance in obtaining flight gear
- Sponsored Student Membership in FMA
- FMA shirt & other swag
- Designated FMA Youth Ambassador in their region
- Opportunity to perform outreach at events
Requirements:
- Nominated by music director/teacher
- Passion for music
- Passion for aviation and desire to Learn to Fly
- Junior or Senior High School Music Student
- Minimum Age – 16 (by March 31 of the year award is given)
- Proof of Citizenship (Country Where Training is to Take Place)
- Able to obtain a 3rd Class FAA medical, state issued driver license or equivalent
- Parental Approval (if under 18 years old)
Dates to Remember:
- Nominations Due by January 31
- Finalists Notified March 10
- Finalists Acceptance Due March 31
- Awards Announced and Recipients Notified May 1
