More than a financial package, this is a program for students who are committed to actively learn, lead, and serve throughout all four years of their undergraduate education.

McDermott Scholarships are awarded to students with records of outstanding academic achievement* and outstanding leadership and service who are committed to participating in the extracurricular, leadership, and service dimensions of the McDermott Scholars Program.

*Those selected as McDermott Scholars will be in the top academic 10th of the University’s incoming first-year undergraduate students.

We are looking for:

• Continual learners inside and outside the classroom.
• Persistent leaders who positively empower others toward achieving shared goals.
• Habitual servers who use their time and talents for the benefit of others.

We welcome:

• All experiences of learning, leading, and serving wherever they occur – including at home and at work, not just those experiences typically mentioned in applications.
• Personal contexts – like family responsibilities or the need to work – that shape other activities.
