AAUW International Fellowships
Description
This fellowship supports women from around the world who are pursuing full-time graduate (master’s, doctoral) or postdoctoral studies or research in the United States (and in some cases abroad through affiliate institutions). It aims to empower leaders who will return to their home countries and contribute to education, equity, and gender equality.
Who Can Apply
Individuals who identify as women and are non-U.S. citizens or non-Permanent Residents
Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) before the deadline
For master’s or doctoral tracks: admitted or enrolled in a graduate program; for postdoctoral: must hold a doctoral degree
Strong academic record (minimum GPA ~3.5 / 4.0 scale)
Commitment to advancing the status of women and girls in their communities
What You Get
Stipend: ~$20,000 for master’s; ~$25,000 for doctoral; ~$50,000 for postdoctoral level
Funds can cover tuition, fees, books, supplies, living expenses (housing, food), and other related costs
Payments distributed in two equal instalments over the fellowship period
Eligibility & Conditions
Must pursue studies full-time at an accredited institution in the U.S. (or for affiliate awards, outside U.S.)
Degree program must start by a specified date and be completed by the end of the fellowship year
Applicants may reapply if previously rejected; those who already hold a similar AAUW fellowship in that track generally cannot receive it again
Deadline
Applications are open annually; for the 2025-2026 cycle, submission begins August 1 and ends October 7, 2025
