Description
The UNIL Master’s Grant is a competitive scholarship aimed at outstanding international students who wish to pursue a full-time Master’s degree at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. It supports academic excellence and eases financial burden for top applicants.
What’s Offered
A monthly stipend of CHF 1,600 for the standard length of the Master’s programme (typically 10 months per year over 1.5-2 years).
Full exemption from the fixed registration fee (only a small semester administrative fee remains).
Access to a respected Swiss university and rich international community of researchers and students.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree from a foreign university (outside Switzerland) that is recognised as equivalent to a UNIL Bachelor’s degree.
Demonstrated strong academic performance and motivation.
Applicants must not already be registered at UNIL.
Sufficient language proficiency (C1 English or French, depending on programme).
Some Master’s programmes are excluded (e.g., Medicine, Education, certain Law tracks).
Process & Structure
Select your preferred Master’s programme at UNIL and ensure it is eligible for the Grant.
Submit a combined application for admission to the Master’s programme and for the Grant by the required deadline.
A selection committee evaluates academic merit, motivation, and alignment with programme requirements.
Awards are typically announced a few months after the submission deadline.
Deadline
For the 2026/27 intake, the deadline is 1 November (or early November) for the grant application
