What’s Offered
A generous annual living allowance of approximately A$52,352 (2025 rate) to support day-to-day costs.
A research allowance each year to cover expenses such as materials, travel or fieldwork.
A relocation allowance for eligible international or interstate students to assist with moving and settling costs.
Full-time PhD candidature at Monash with access to world-class research infrastructure and supervision.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants can be international students, Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents, or holders of an Australian humanitarian visa.
Applicants must be applying for or already enrolled in a full-time PhD at Monash University.
They must demonstrate high academic performance, strong research potential, and meet English language requirements.
Selection occurs annually and competition is highly selective: only two awards are made each year—one for STEM and one for HASS disciplines.
Process & Structure
Candidates apply simultaneously for their PhD admission and scholarship consideration via the Monash Graduate Research application system.
Faculties may require a prior invitation from a potential supervisor before the scholarship application can proceed.
Short-listing and final decisions are based on academic merit, research experience, alignment with faculty research priorities and candidate potential.
Deadline
The scholarship application closes on 31 October each year for the following year’s intake.
