Description
The iF Design Student Award is one of the world’s premier competitions for design students and recent graduates. It’s open internationally and recognises innovative design concepts aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
What’s Offered
A total prize pool of EUR 50,000, distributed among the top concepts.
Global recognition including a winner-label, digital certificate, and exposure on the iF Design platform and exhibitions.
Networking and PR opportunities: the award offers visibility in the wider design community and opens doors to future professional opportunities.
Eligibility Criteria
Open to students and recent graduates of all design-related courses globally.
Entries must be submitted in English, and the concept may be individual or by a team (up to four members).
Concepts should address one or more of the 15 UN SDGs (e.g., climate action, sustainable cities, quality education).
Process & Structure
Registration is free of charge.
Key dates for the 2026 edition: submission deadline 28 January 2026, online jury 4 – 13 March, final jury 24 April, and awards ceremony 10 – 11 June in Frankfurt.
Submissions are evaluated using five criteria, including problem-solving, ethical standards, solidarity, user experience and economic sense.
