Humboldt Research Fellowship
Description
This fellowship supports outstanding researchers from anywhere in the world to carry out their own research in Germany, working with a host institution of their choice.
What’s included:
Two options: one for postdoctoral researchers and one for more experienced researchers
Monthly fellowship stipend (€2,700 for postdocs; ~€3,200 for experienced researchers), plus support benefits
Duration: 6-24 months (postdocs) or 6-18 months (experienced), with possibility to split the stay into separate visits over up to three years
Who can apply:
Researchers with excellent academic credentials and international publication records
Postdocs who completed their doctorate within approximately the last 4 years (with some allowances for career breaks)
Experienced researchers with a stronger track record, up to about 12 years after their doctorate, but exceptions considered for special cases
Other benefits & features:
Choice of host institution in Germany; host must provide confirmation of research facilities
Opportunities for language training before the stay begins
Family support (allowances), health insurance subsidies, travel costs included
Application & process:
No fixed deadline — applications are accepted continuously and reviewed in selection sessions three times a year
Requires a complete application including host institution agreement, expert reviews, publication list
