HIIA Future Leaders Program 2025 — Fall Edition

Duration & Format

• Runs in person in Budapest from 15 September to 15 December 2025 (around 3 months) at the HIIA headquarters.

• Requires about 30 hours per week of active participation.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct original research under expert mentorship, contributing to HIIA’s research groups and project management team.

• Join foreign policy seminars, leadership training, public speaking and media workshops, and discussions with policy circles.

Themes & Research Areas

• Regional: Western Balkans, Eastern Europe, Transatlantic Relations, Visegrád Cooperation, Middle East, Turkic States, Asia-Pacific.

• Thematic: Security, Energy Policy, Multipolarity, Connectivity, Cultural Diplomacy, Global Geopolitics & Family Policy.

Who Can Apply

• Recent graduates with at least a Bachelor’s degree in fields like International Relations, Political Science, History, Philosophy, International Economics, or related disciplines.

• Applicants must be under 30 years old.

Application Details

• Required documents: CV (max 2 pages), cover letter (max 1 page), and a writing sample (3,000-5,000 characters including spaces).

• All materials must be submitted in English.

• Selection includes interviews.

Deadlines & Payment

• Application deadline: 8 August 2025

• Interviews: 11–15 August 2025

• Results announced: 1 September 2025

• Fellows will be remunerated under a fixed-term contract, with payment tied to milestone achievements.

Support for International Fellows

• Travel costs (round-trip) are covered.

• Monthly stipend of approx. 200,000 HUF (≈ 480 EUR) provided for accommodation.

• Visa arrangements are the participant’s responsibility, with HIIA offering support. Accommodation is arranged individually.
