Description
Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) in Qatar offers a variety of fully funded graduate opportunities, with strong support for both tuition and living costs. Their mission is to build a research-intensive university that develops future leaders through world-class education and innovation.
What’s Offered
Graduate students may receive tuition waivers (up to 100%) depending on their program:
PhD (STEM): full waiver
MS STEM: ~75% waiver
MS / MA in SHAPE fields: ~60% waiver
Monthly stipends are awarded:
International PhD: 9,000 QAR/month
International Master’s: 7,000 QAR/month
HBKU provides a one-time return airfare for international students (one ticket arriving + one upon graduation) for those on stipend.
Eligibility Criteria
Scholarships are awarded based on merit and financial need.
Must be admitted to a full-time graduate program at HBKU (Master’s or PhD).
Students receiving stipends must work 10 hours/week as Research Assistants (RAs), and may work up to 20 hours/week total (including Teaching Assistant roles).
Admission Process
Applications open on 1 October 2025 for graduate programs.
International applicant deadline: 1 February 2026.
Qatari/resident applicants applying for funding: deadline 15 March 2026.
No separate scholarship application is needed — scholarship consideration happens during the admission process.
