Description
The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) is a fully funded government scholarship offered by the Republic of Korea to support outstanding international students pursuing Master’s, PhD, or research programs at Korean universities. The programme aims to foster global talent, strengthen international cooperation, and build long-term academic and cultural ties with Korea.
What’s Offered
Full tuition coverage for the entire duration of the program
Monthly living allowance to support accommodation and daily expenses
Round-trip international airfare at the start and end of the program
Medical insurance throughout the study period
One-time settlement allowance upon arrival
Up to one year of Korean language training, if required
Eligibility Criteria
Open to international students from eligible countries
Applicants must meet age and academic requirements set by the Korean government
Strong academic performance and clear study or research goals are essential
Applicants and their parents must not hold Korean citizenship
Process & Structure
Two application tracks are available:
Embassy Track, applying through the Korean Embassy in the applicant’s home country
University Track, applying directly to designated Korean universities
Candidates are screened at multiple stages, including document review and interviews
Final selection is confirmed by the Korean government after university recommendation
