GEM Fellowship Program – Your Launchpad into Elite STEM Grad Careers
Description
What’s GEM All About?
GEM opens doors for U.S. citizens and permanent residents in engineering and science—offering fully funded Master’s and PhD paths plus real-world internships at top-tier tech and science firms. It’s the literal VIP pass for STEM grad journeys across academia and industry
Why This Program Slaps:
1. No financial distractions. Your GEM Member University covers full tuition and fees.
2. Internship-powered growth.
- Employer Fellows get internships (two for Master’s, at least one for PhD), plus at least $16K stipend/year + tuition & fees.
- Associate Fellows get tuition covered with a solid stipend—$8K/year for Master’s, $16K/year for PhD.
3. Stability for PhD students. You get support up to year 5—first year from GEM, then continued backing via assistantships or university funds, as long as you're academically solid.
Eligibility: Let’s Keep It Real
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Have a background in engineering or applied science, either as a senior or graduate.
- Meet the minimum GPA threshold (about 2.8–3.0/4.0, depending on level).
- Commit to a summer internship in sponsorship—non-negotiable for Employer Fellows.
- Apply to at least 3 GEM Member Universities in relevant STEM programs. (Strict requirement, unless your current grad school writes in support of you staying.)
