The Eric Bleumink Fund provides fully funded scholarships to exceptionally talented students from eligible developing countries who wish to pursue a Master’s degree at the University of Groningen. Established to foster academic excellence and regional development, this award empowers scholars to contribute knowledge and impact to their home countries.

✅ Eligibility Criteria
Must hold conditional or unconditional admission to a University of Groningen Master’s program before February of the intake year
Outstanding academic record, often demonstrated through excellent undergraduate grades and strong letters of recommendation
Fluent in English, meeting Master’s admission standards
Citizens of eligible developing countries only
Demonstrated financial need (no other means of funding the program)
Must commit to full participation in a one- or two-year Master’s program and meet health requirements
📝 Selection & Nomination
Candidates cannot apply directly—nominations are made by the University of Groningen’s Admission Office and departmental admission committees
Each faculty nominates only a limited number of students each year
A selection committee reviews nominees in March and notifies students shortly thereafter
📆 Important Timing
Apply for your Master’s program by December 1 to be eligible for nomination
Admission must be granted by February
Scholarship decisions announced in March
Courses typically begin in September
