EPFL CYD Fellowships – Cyber-Defence Research Talent Program
Description
This fellowship programme at EPFL (in partnership with Cyber-Defence Campus) supports excellent researchers, students, and future entrepreneurs working on new solutions in cybersecurity, data science, and related fields.
What You’ll Get:
Fully funded fellowships for different levels: Master thesis work (≈ 6 months), doctoral studies (up to 4 years + possible extension), distinguished postdoctoral (≈ 2 years), and proof-of-concept projects (12 months).
Funding includes salary or monthly living allowance, research costs, and support for travel/conferences in the doctoral and postdoctoral tracks.
Access to CYD Campus infrastructure based in Switzerland (EPFL / ETH Zurich, Thun, etc.), mentorship, and startup or commercialization pathways where relevant.
Who Can Apply:
Applicants of any nationality.
Must be associated with or supervised by a Swiss higher education institution (for most tracks).
Students must be enrolled (Master / PhD), or postdocs researchers with a strong track record.
Proof of concept track also open to those with entrepreneurial vision (e.g. start-ups, product/service ideas in cyber-defence).
Focus Areas / Mission:
Research in protecting confidentiality, integrity, availability of cyber- and cyber-physical systems.
Data sharing, fusion, crowdsourcing in cyber systems.
AI / data science methods for security-relevant data.
Privacy, trust, security technologies.
Timelines & Deadlines:
Doctoral & Distinguished Postdoc tracks: next application deadline 20 August 2025 (17:00 CEST).
Master Thesis & Proof-of-Concept tracks: open on rolling calls, no fixed deadline.
