Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) Scholarships – Africa Health Collaborative & Mastercard Foundation

This fully funded doctoral scholarship opportunity supports scholars from Sub-Saharan Africa to pursue the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) at the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health. It is aimed at emerging public-health leaders who will return to their home countries to drive systemic change in health and well-being.

What’s Offered

• Full financial support covering tuition, travel, housing, meals, books and living expenses for the entirety of the DrPH programme.

• Access to orientation, academic support and a scholar network to ensure success and impact.

• Up to 3 scholarships will be awarded for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be a citizen and current resident of a Sub-Saharan African country.

• Must have graduated from or be graduating soon from a partner institution of the Africa Health Collaborative and must not yet be enrolled in a doctoral programme.

• Must demonstrate academic excellence, leadership qualities, and be admissible to the DrPH programme.

• Must commit to returning to their home country for the final two years of the programme to contribute to social and economic development.

Process & Structure

• Attend one of the required virtual information sessions.

• Submit the scholarship application by the deadline.

• If shortlisted, apply for admission to the DrPH programme at University of Toronto.

• Final selection is based on merit and alignment with future impact in Africa.

• Scholarship application deadline: October 10 2025 at 11:59 p.m. EST.

• If shortlisted, DrPH programme application deadline: November 21 2025.
