Nanjing University offers the prestigious Chinese Government Scholarship (Class B) to outstanding international students pursuing Master’s or PhD programs. Since 2008, this scholarship—granted through the Ministry of Education and managed by the China Scholarship Council—has supported global scholars at this historic institution.

Eligibility Criteria
Open to non-Chinese citizens in good health.
Master’s applicants: up to 35 years old; PhD applicants: up to 40 years old.
Applicants must hold the necessary prior degree or a pre-graduation certificate and meet language requirements (HSK for Chinese-taught, IELTS/TOEFL/Duolingo for English-taught programs)
Applicants cannot hold another Chinese government scholarship simultaneously.

Application Timeline
Applications are submitted through NJU’s international student portal from November 1 to January 20
CS Scholarship application via the CSC portal and NJU's system is required, followed by departmental assessment and CSC review.
Annual scholarship renewal depends on satisfactory academic performance and discipline adherence, with eligibility reviewed each year around March–May.
