Description
The Charlemagne Prize Academy invites early-career researchers, policy experts, and thinkers to lead independent, forward-looking research projects about Europe. It’s a one-year non-resident fellowship aimed at generating innovative solutions for contemporary European challenges.
What you get:
Up to €25,000 in funding per research project
Support from academic mentors, and access to a European partner institution if you choose
Opportunity to engage with experts, decision-makers and peers through networking events, summit, and Europe-wide dialogue
Ability to pursue your project while staying in your country of residence or chosen host institution
Who can apply:
Researchers under 35 years old with a postgraduate degree (Master’s or equivalent)
Fluent in English at a high level
Either citizens of an EU member state or residents in Europe during the project period
Must submit a project proposal aligned with the program’s annual theme
Timeline & Key Dates:
Fellowship runs from November 2025 to October 2026
Applications are accepted from 1 July to 17 August 2025
Selected fellows take part in a kick-off event in autumn, then work according to quarterly milestones, ending with a final presentation and publication
