AfOx Graduate Scholarships – Saïd Business School / University of Oxford

The AfOx Graduate Scholarships, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation and the Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOx), provide fully funded graduate-study opportunities for outstanding African nationals who are committed to contributing to Africa’s development.

What’s Offered

• Full coverage of course fees for a one-year taught Master’s programme.

• A generous grant for living costs (at least the UKRI minimum doctoral stipend rate).

• Comprehensive support: return economy airfare, visa/immigration health surcharge fees, settling-in allowance, and participation in leadership-development programming.

• Access to a dedicated African leadership and impact network, placements in African organisations post-study, and extensive mentoring and career support.

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be a citizen of an African country and ordinarily resident in Africa.

• Must hold (or expect to hold) the minimum entry qualifications for the chosen Master’s programme.

• Demonstrated academic excellence, leadership potential, and a strong commitment to development in Africa.

• Applications must meet the standard graduate-admissions deadline for the chosen course.

Process & Structure

• Apply for your selected full-time Master’s course at the University of Oxford by the relevant deadline.

• Eligible candidates are automatically considered for the scholarship; no separate scholarship application is required if the programme qualifies.

• Short-listed applicants may be invited for interview; offers include both admission and scholarship funding.

• Once selected, scholars participate in an induction and leadership programme and, after graduation, engage in a period of service in Africa.

Deadline

• Applicants must submit their programme application by the course-specific deadline (typically December or January) and indicate interest in funding consideration when prompted.
