ECTRIMS Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Exchange Programme

The ECTRIMS Postdoctoral Research Fellowship is a fully funded, highly competitive program designed to support early-career researchers in advancing scientific knowledge on multiple sclerosis (MS). Hosted in leading research institutions across Europe, the fellowship enables researchers to conduct high-impact basic, clinical, or applied research while fostering international collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Eligibility Criteria

• Open to researchers holding an MD, PhD, ScD, or equivalent degree
• Must have completed their doctoral degree before the fellowship begins
• Typically less than 5 years of postdoctoral experience (and under ~40 years old, with exceptions)
• Open to applicants of all nationalities
• Must conduct research in a European host institution (often different from current institution)
• Required to secure a host mentor and research project proposal prior to application

Program Structure

• Full-time research-focused fellowship in MS-related fields (basic, clinical, or applied)
• Fellows design and execute an independent research project with a host institution
• Up to 10% time may be allocated to teaching or clinical activities
• Annual and final research progress reports required
