Harvard LEAD Fellowship – Harvard Global Health Institute

Description

The Harvard LEAD Fellowship (Learn, Engage, Advance, Disrupt) is a fully funded leadership fellowship offered by the Harvard Global Health Institute in partnership with the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. It’s designed to empower experienced professionals from low- and middle-income countries to grow as leaders in global health and mentor future women leaders in the field. What’s Offered

  • A 12-month fellowship combining virtual learning and a 6-week in-person experience at Harvard University

  • Leadership coaching, mentorship, and executive education

  • Networking and speaking opportunities with global health professionals

  • Participation in leadership masterclasses and executive courses

  • Financial support covering travel, housing, visa, and a stipend during the in-person portion Harvard Global Health Institute

Who Can Apply?

  • Applicants from any region, especially those based in low- and middle-income countries

  • Must hold at least a Master’s degree in a relevant field

  • Minimum ~10 years of professional experience in global health (work during university doesn’t count)

  • Must be working full-time in global health when applying

  • Must have the support of their employer and a mentor within their organization

  • Able to take a leave of absence for the in-person Harvard portion and obtain a J-1 visa for the USA Harvard Global Health Institute+1

How It Works

  • Complete an online application with CV, letter of intent, essays, and reference/support letters

  • Fellows follow a year-long personal leadership development plan

  • The programme starts with virtual coursework and coaching

  • Includes a 6-week residency on Harvard campus with workshops and mentorship Harvard Global Health Institute+1

Important Things to Know

  • The fellowship is highly competitive and focused on leading change in global health

  • It’s intended for mid-career professionals, not early career or students

  • You should plan to return to your home region and use the skills there after completing the programme Harvard Global Health Institute

  • 30 November 2025 for the 2026–2027 cohort application cycle
