Tokyo Global Partner Scholarship Program – Tokyo Metropolitan University

The Tokyo Global Partner Scholarship Program is a fully funded graduate scholarship at Tokyo Metropolitan University (TMU) in Japan, designed to support outstanding international students pursuing Master’s or PhD degrees and strengthen global academic collaboration and innovation.

What’s Offered

• Full tuition and admission fee exemption for the standard duration of the programme (2 years for Master’s, 3 years for PhD).

• A monthly stipend of ¥150,000 to help cover living costs while studying in Japan.

• International airfare support to assist with travel to Japan and back after completion.

• Exemption from certain examination fees and access to housing referral services.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must meet entry requirements for TMU graduate programmes (Master’s or PhD).

• Eligible candidates include students from TMU’s partner universities, Tokyo’s sister cities, and many Asian countries or regions.

Process & Structure

• Applications open in cycles for Fall (studies beginning October 1) and Spring (studies beginning April 1).

• The selection process includes submission of academic and research documents, followed by interviews or exams in some cases.

• Successful candidates are notified in advance of the intake semester.

Fields of Study

• Scholarships are available across TMU’s graduate schools, including Humanities, Law & Politics, Management, Science, Urban Environmental Sciences, Systems Design, and Human Health Sciences.
