Description
The Sir James McNeill Postgraduate Research Scholarship (SJMN) supports graduate research students at Monash University whose work is environmentally responsible and socially beneficial.
What’s Offered
A living stipend of AUD $52,352 per year (2025 rate).
A research allowance to support project-related costs.
A relocation allowance if eligible.
Eligibility Criteria
Open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, humanitarian visa holders, and international students.
Research must be environmentally responsible and socially beneficial.
Available for research within these faculties: Arts (School of Music only), Engineering, Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences, and Science.
Must meet Monash’s English language requirements and competitive scholarship selection criteria.
Process & Structure
Apply for your graduate research degree (Master’s by research or PhD) at Monash and indicate consideration for scholarships.
Applicants are automatically considered for SJMN if eligible; you do not need a separate application for this scholarship.
Only one scholarship is awarded every two years.
Deadline
Applications close on 31 October in the year the scholarship is offered.
