Description
The UNNF Fellowship is a fully funded 9-month programme for mid-level professionals and government officials from developing States who work directly with ocean affairs, marine science, or law of the sea issues.
What you get:
First 3 months of specialized training at the United Nations Headquarters in New York
Followed by 6 months of academic research at a host university or research institution
Support with stipend, travel, health, and living costs
Who it’s for:
Professionals aged roughly 25-45 from developing countries
Those with at least a first university degree and capacity to undertake advanced research
Individuals in positions where applying knowledge in legal/policy frameworks for oceans & seas is possible
What you’ll learn & do:
Deep dive into international legal frameworks like UNCLOS, and best practices in ocean governance
Conduct your own research project + write a detailed thesis or report
Grow your skills in policy design, negotiations, marine science-policy interface
