UWA Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Scholarships

The University of Western Australia offers competitive HDR scholarships for both domestic and international students pursuing a Master’s by Research or a PhD.

🎓 Scholarship Package

• Full tuition fee waiver

• Living stipend: AUD 37,000 per year (tax-free)

• Duration: Up to 3.5 years for PhD, 2 years for Master’s

• Additional allowances for relocation, research costs, and travel

• Overseas Student Health Cover provided for international students

✅ Eligibility & Selection

• Open to Master’s by Research and PhD applicants

• Applicants must meet UWA’s academic and English requirements

• Highly competitive: successful candidates usually have a WAM of 80+ (First Class/High Distinction)

• Selection based on academic record, research proposal quality, supervisor support, and prior research output

📆 Key Dates (2026 Intake – International Round)

• Applications open: 1 July 2025

• Applications close: 31 August 2025

• Offers released: from 20 October 2025
