The Vice‑Chancellor’s International Excellence Scholarship supports high-achieving international students beginning their studies at the University of Waikato. It recognizes academic merit and helps ease tuition costs for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
🎓 Scholarship Value
- Up to NZD $15,000 toward tuition fees
- Applied to the first year of study, usually split across two trimesters
- Undergraduate students may receive up to $15,000; postgraduate taught students may receive up to $10,000
✅ Eligibility
- Open to new international students enrolling for the first time at Waikato
- Must hold a conditional or unconditional offer of admission
- Minimum GPA equivalent to a B+ average
- Not available for students entering through sponsorships, exchange programs, or foundation diplomas
📆 Application Details
- Rolling application process with decisions typically within 8–12 weeks
- Applications must be submitted at least 4 weeks before the start of a trimester
- Key intakes: Trimester A, B, and C (deadlines generally fall in November, April, August, and October depending on intake)

Recipients may also be invited to act as student ambassadors, representing the University of Waikato internationally.
