π UNFCCC CAPACITY Fellowship Programme 2025
Empowering Future Climate Leaders from SIDS & LDCs
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is offering the CAPACITY Fellowship Programme, aimed at strengthening the negotiation and implementation capacities of professionals from Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
This prestigious one-year fellowship is designed for mid-career professionals working in government institutions, and focuses on enhancing their expertise in climate policy, Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, carbon markets, stakeholder engagement, and capacity-building. Fellows are hosted at the UNFCCC headquarters in Bonn, Germany, and work within the Mitigation Divisionβs Markets and Non-Markets Support and Stakeholders Interaction subdivision.
π― Key Responsibilities Include:
Supporting the implementation of Article 6 capacity-building initiatives
Co-developing strategic partnerships, training materials, and digital learning tools
Engaging in technical reviews and supporting the Article 6 regulatory framework
Facilitating global climate events, consultations, and outreach efforts
Advancing carbon pricing strategies and contributing to policy research
Fellows receive tailored mentorship, skill-building support, and access to global climate networks. The programme offers a EUR 4,500 monthly stipend, international travel to Bonn, and access to UN-level training resources.
β Who Can Apply:
Nationals of an eligible SIDS or LDC country
Under 40 years of age
Employed in a governmental or academic institution
With at least 3 years of relevant experience in climate, policy, or development fields
This fellowship builds not only technical capacity, but also long-term leadership potential β shaping young professionals to become influential voices in global climate negotiations and implementation.
